About This Item
(Sloane Park: Sable, 1982) 0620062606. Large 8vo; laminated pictorial dustwrapper; original rexine over boards; endpaper map; pp. xviii + 230; colour photographs in text, illustrating each of the species described. Trace of foxing to endpapers and reverse of dustwrapper. Very good condition. In his foreword, J.M. Winterbottom says of this book: "It fills a real gap in our literature, both Bolster's and my own books on the area, besides being on a more modest scale, having been out of print for many years." Professor Winterbottom also sets aside his reservations about photographs serving as identification tools for birds, mentioning that the shots selected "have contrived to show the essentials without spoiling the picture." .
