Payne. The first edition. Signed by the author to the title page.Illustrated with a colour frontispiece and ten monochrome illustrations over eight plates. Collated complete. In the original publisher's cloth with the original unclipped dust wrapper. This work was written by William H. Payne, with a foreword by the president of the 'Suffolk Naturalist's Society', the Earl of Cranbrook. This ornithological work provides a detailed study of the birds of Suffolk in England, describing the county, its habitats and the species of bird that reside there. In the publisher's original cloth with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally excellent with only minimal bumping and rubbing to the extremities. Past owner's signature to the front free endpaper. The wrap is sound with loss to the head and tail of the spine and to the tail of the front, minor handling marks and the odd small closed tear to the extremities. Internally firmly bound with clean and bright pages. Relevant newspaper article neatly inserted. Near Fine
