Illustrated paperback binding with gold and red coloured titles to the front panel and black and white coloured titles to the back strip. This book was not published in the author's home country of Britain until 1973 (after the Lady Chatterley court case) due to the authorities disapproving of the sexual content of the book. This is the first paperback, American, edition of 1963. "It's setting is the mouldering Regina Hotel in London that shelters a group of strange, impassioned people  sensualists, idealists, self-searches, sex-seekers. In telling their story Lawrence Durrell has created a stunning, lustily humorous novel which savagely attacks the England of the 1930s."  from rear panel blurb.
