Inscription signed by author on dedication page reads, "To Bobby Crave with best wishes Marguerite De Angeli 1956". Author is a Newbery Medal winner for her book, "The Door in the Wall". Bright, clean, square olive-green coverboards. Dust jacket is NOT price-clipped and has its original price of $2.95 on the front flap. Dust jacket has some small chips/tears around edges; most significant being a 0.5" x 0.75" chip at top of rear panel. Size: Sm 4to (9" to 11"). 191 pp.
Synopsis
Black Fox of Lorne is a 1956 children's historical novel written and illustrated by Marguerite de Angeli. This Newbery Honor Book is about tenth-century Viking twins who shipwreck on the Scottish coast and seek to avenge the death of their father. They encounter loyal clansmen at war, kindly shepherds, power-hungry lairds, and staunch crofters.
