Good. 286pp. Comprises 18 folksy sketches, including: The Man from Caloosa-Hatchee; The Jug of Live-forever Water; One-eye Pete Neaffie's Parrot; Scornful Sue and Lean Lucinda; Headless Ghost that Walked with a Crutch; &c. Bound in green cloth, stamped gilt and black, with a pastedown photo of an elderly Black man on the cover. Binding lightly rubbed, shallow tide mark and prior owner's name on front endpaper. 7.25" x 5" Jimtown is set in the piney woods of Cape Fear country, These sketches, which first appeared in The New York Sun, are narrated in dialect by an old man born "'fo' de wah" on "de ol' McKeevuh plahntation...."
