Isabel McMeekin and Dorothy Park Clark wrote separately under their own names, and jointly using the pseudonym Clark McMeekin. They often featured Louisville and the Ohio River as settings for their novels. This book is about a circus troupe traveling on a riverboat from Pittsburgh to Louisville in the early part of the nineteenth century, and playing the river towns along the way. The central character is a balloonist, who has accidentally killed a spectator in a ballooning accident and is hiding out on the boat..
