About This Item

London: Jonathan Cape, 1968. Hardcover. Very Good/Near Fine. London: Jonathan Cape, 1968. Second printing. 8vo. Dark brown textured-paper boards; silver spine titles; red topstain; dust jacket. Xiv, 198pp.; index. Some light water splashing to topstain; mild thumb-smudging to fore-edge; inked gift inscription on ffep. Very good or better in a near fine jacket, shallowly clipped at all four corners but with original price still present; one short closed tear at base of front flap hinge. Attractive reprint of the uncommon UK edition of Carmichael (later Kwame Ture) and Hamilton's revolutionary critique of American racism, which offered a framework for radical Black political reform. Notable, among things, for introducing the now widely acknowledged concept of "institutional racism."
