About This Item

R. H. Russell, New York, 1897. First Edition. Hardcover. Poor Condition/No Dust Jacket. A very worn copy of a scarce children's book. Edward Kemble is best known as the first illustrator of Twain's 'Huckleberry Finn'. Original pictorial paper covered boards, lettered cloth spine, complete and fairly sound - very rubbed and scuffed, some staining. Internally the front free endpaper is missing as are two of the plates ( 'The Cake Walk' and 'A Game of Polo' ). Title page and Contents page are loose and frayed at edges. Ditto two of the colour plates. Other than that things aren't too bad - some wear to page edges, the odd mark or small stain. Not paginated, 14 colour plates ( of 16 called for ) plus text illustrations throughout. Landscape format, approx. size 9" by 12". Quantity Available: 1. Category: Children; america; Pictures of this item not already displayed here available upon request. Inventory No: 27658. .
