About This Item

William Blackwood and Sons, Edinburgh, 1960 Feb.. First Edition. Softcover. VG/--. 9 3/8 H x 5 7/8 W x 3/16 inch. NON SMOKING STORE. My listing includes PHOTO OF ACTUAL BOOK for sale. Book Interior VERY GOOD / Covers Good. Bottom pages edges now cut and thicker paper than in the 1950’s. Covers are peach, lettering navy, pictorial front, fascinating ad for Barclays Bank on back where they mention the wildness of Nairobi and the pictorial is of Masai killing lions with spears. Spine is straight, square, solid, quite worn with a lot of chips and small rips with part of the book block underneath showing, but text is intact and legible up to the Number and Volume which are quite chipped away. Covers are flat, a few 1/8 inch rips on edge, two bent corners, no vertical creases beside spine, covers seem to be made of a softer paper than 1950’s and are a bit rubbed and worn but all text and pictorials are clear and legible, front cover has some minor edge wear and a few creases and light stains, back cover has a lot of chipping on spine side but is intact, has some minor creases and a bit of shelf wear, back cover has a 1 inch rip at top spine side, both covers have no holes, and are intact. Page edges sunned. Inside of book is tight, clean, clear, much brighter than the covers, pages are almost white, flat, no rips, no holes, no writing. Small bit of age darkening on edges of some pages. A few pages may be dog eared. Book is over-opened at page 130 and 162 but no pages are loose or missing. Not only fun to read but fun to look at the old advertisements for cars, etc.

WILLOWBAY BOOKS

THERE IS NO COVID-19 IN MY STORE AND MY SALES ARE ONLINE ONLY. IMPORTANT NOTE RE POSTAGE: I love books and most of my books are NEW or LIKE NEW. I'm very careful in describing my books accurately and I've done so to the best of my ability using the IOBA Book Condition guidelines. All items are from a smoke-free, clean, dry environment. My books are from a large private collection, very well taken care of and rarely handled. All descriptions and photos are of the actual books I'm selling. I'm happy to answer any questions regarding my books, just ask. IMPORTANT RE POSTAGE: I'm in Canada so books to the USA/Other Countries are International shipments and may be delayed by CUSTOMS and/or HOMELAND SECURITY. I'm using the Biblio standard postage matrix, which gives average postage fees, therefore sometimes for an OVERSIZE or LARGE heavy book or expensive book, the postage may be too low and may require extra charges. If I know this in advance, I will notify the buyer before the order is processed.

This is not a huge book warehouse, it is a small one-owner store run by a true book lover. POSSIBLE DELAYS: I'm elderly and disabled and while this usually does not cause a delay in order processing, it sometimes may cause a small delay for me to get to the post office. Thanks for your understanding. I will always email you with the date your package was shipped, and shipping method used.

I'm sure you'll enjoy looking through my books, and purchasing from WILLOWBAY BOOKS. Thanks. Ms. Bronwen Kathy Williams, Ontario, Canada.
