About This Item
Self Published. Near Fine. 1975. Softcover. Comb bound softcover. 8/5" X 11" 66 single side pages. Illustrated throughout. " ...This book concerns itself with geometric pattern on an even weave fabric of linen, cotton or wool. Blackwork basically has a "lace" appearance where texture and/or shading are achieved by the selection of solid or open patterns, by varying the stitch lengths and by varying the weights and types of threads." From the introduction. Jane Zimmerman (1939-2021) was a prolific designer and author with a broad perspective on the field of embroidery. She expanded the horizons of many students by combining needlework disciplines (canvas work, silk and metal embroidery, blackwork, bargello, etc.) in original works of lasting beauty. The former owners name neatly written on the cover. Page 15 has spotting on the blank side with minor bleed-through to the illustration. ; 8vo .
