Text remains in fine condition without blemish. ; 8vo 8"" - 9"" tall; Physical description; pp. xvi. 624 : plates ; 23 cm. With a half-title. With additional title page, engraved. Physical description; [9], viii-xvi, 624 p., [39] leaves of plates : ill. ; 23 cm. (8vo). Notes; Printer's imprint on title page verso and colophon. With a dedication to the Guild of Literature and Art (f. [A]3r). Illustrated with a steel-etched frontispiece, etched title leaf, and 38 etched plates. Originally published in 20 numbers in 19 parts (the last two numbers published in one part) between March 1852 and September 1853, published in one volume 12th Sept. 1853. 1st edition issue points present: ""elgble"" on page 19 line 6; ""chair"" on page 209, line 23; ""counsinship"" on page 275 line 22.
