Hardcover. 1st Edition. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. Paul Bonet was a master binder, early in the French era of modern painting. His first important patron was Carlos Scherrer of Argentina in the decades before WW Two. This book is a celebration of his collection of great French literature, illustrated by Braque, Chagall, Matisse, Picasso Degas and others in superb bindings by Bonet and others. Original red cloth, a fine copy, with gilt title on front and unfaded spine. No edgewear. As new inside. A splendid book. Indexes of Artists and binders at the rear. 219 books described..
