New York: Scribner's, 1916. First printing. Hardcover. Very Good. Book sold for the benefit of the American hostels for Refuges & Children of Flanders rescue committee. Articles in verse and prose with illustrations reproduced from original paintings & drawings. Works by Sarah Bernhardt, Rupert Brooke, Jean Cocteau, & many others. Preface by Wharton, introduction by Theodore Roosevelt. 22 illustrations, a few in color. One illustration is faded. Brown paper covered boards, red spine. Gold title on spine. A small bookstore sticker at bottom of front free endpaper, wear on bottom board edges. Clean and straight. New custom slipcase with side inset copy of one of the color illustrations.
