Nicely illustrated poetry anthology, "The Book of Joyous Children" by James Whitcomb Riley. 1902 1st edition; Charles Scribner's Sons; New York. Decorative binding with gilt illustrations on the covers and spine. This edition is richly illustrated with numerous full-page plates and in-text illustrations throughout by J.W. Vawter (including a frontispiece and illustrated title page). Gilt top page edges. The book is a collection of poetry for children.
Condition:
The maroon cloth has darkened along the top edge of the front cover, and along the top and left edges of the back cover. Bright gilt on the front and back covers; the gilt on the spine has mostly faded. Sharp cover corners. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Occasional light foxing to the pages (though a bit heavier on the frontispiece, title page, and the tissue guard in between). Overall the book is in Very Good- condition.
