London: The Caxton Publishing Company, 1930. First Edition. Green Cloth. Very Good/No. Various. Type: Z A very good, clean, tight six volume set in original publisher's green cloth - gilt embossed to the spine and to the front board. Each volume with around 4 to 9 colour plates (as called for - volume vi has no colour plates) and a colour dissectional model to the inside of the front board. Quite a scientific approach to the study of nature. with numerous line-drawings throughout and black and white photographic plates. Volume i, 212pp, Volume ii, 222pp. Volume iii, 228pp Volume iv, 210pp. Volume v, 224pp. Volume vi, 222pp. - general index to rear. No ink inscriptions - the very occasional pencil annotation. The odd bumped board corner and some light marking here and there to the boards. Some foxing to each volume - more chiefly to the fore-edges and endpapers where in places it is quite notable. A very good, tight set that would look handsome on any bookshelf.
