J.' lettering; all edges gilt; pp. [viii], 51, [5]; facsimile text and colour illustrations and borders throughout; together with 'Notes to accompany a facsimile of the manuscript written in 1870,' card wrappers; pp. 8, with 2 leaves after plates; both housed in the original green cloth slipcase, gilt lettering to black label on spine; minimal rubbing to label spine on slipcase; minor bumping to lower corners of slipcase, else fine. Limited edition of 325 copies, with 300 numbered copies for sale, of which 62 are bound in vellum, this no. 61. This exquisite facsimile, crafted by the Scholar Press, faithfully reproduces William Morris's original manuscript, currently preserved at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Featuring intricate floral text borders and vivid color illustrations throughout, this special edition beautifully captures the delicate essence of Morris's verse. As the gilt tooling of 'G. B. J.' on the volume's boards alludes to, Morris produced this work for the important artist and pre-Raphaelite Georgiana Burne-Jones.
