NY, NY ( Norfolk, CT ): New Directions, 1952. 323 pp., light beige cloth w/ blue & green lettering; Dust jacket in clear archival cover; Book shows slight darkening to spine; some minor bumping to bottom edges of boards; a touch of soil to top edge of front board; very slight bumping to bottom corner of rear board; Jacket shows chipping, small pieces missing (up to 1/2" x 1 1/8", as in v-shaped piece missing from bottom edge of rear panel), and tears to edges, especially to ends of spine & folds; spine is somewhat darkened & shows some soil w/ portions chipped away at ends; some light soil to jacket overall, a bit heavier to rear panel; front panel has a long (about 3 1/2") mostly horizontal tear, creating a flap, the crease of which is near separation, now held in place by clear jacket cover / This is the first state of the first U.S. edition, published in an edition of 2,500 copies. Illustrated with four plates of B&W photos. Printed in Ireland. /. First U.S. Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Fair to Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
