Printed for Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme, and Brown, Paternoster-row, London, 1814. First edition.Two volumes (Volume 2 published in 1817). Extra engraved titles and engraved plates throughout. 4to (11 1/4 x 9 inches), pages: 209 & cxxvii:ci & unpaginated index. Contemporary half green calf, marbled boards, spine gilt in compartments and gilt lettered direct. Spines uniformly and not unattractively faded to brown, some marginal foxing or tanning to some of the plates. Letterpress title of vol.1 inscribed "No.83". Engraved armorial bookplate. Overall good. The engraved title of volume 2 reads: "The border antiquities of England & Scotland comprising specimens of the architecture, sculpture, and other vestiges of former ages, accompanied with descriptive sketches biographical remarks, and a brief history of the principal events that have occured in this interesting part of Great Britain". Weight 3.6 kg thus extra overseas postage will be requested.
