Illustrated with two vignette engraved titles and 93 engraved plates, all on India paper mounted. Plates not figured in the pagination. In early Riviere bindings of full mottled calf with decorative rolled edges and denteles, marbled endpapers, a.e.g. Beautifully rebacked to style, retaining the original red and black spine labels (?). Todd and Bowden. 73Aa. (Todd and Bowden discovered only 2 copies of this rare first issue in book form.)
With the red paper bookplate of Sir William Fraser of Ledeclune and Morar [4th] Baronet (1826-1898) whose library was sold by Sotheby's in 1901.
