New York: Time-Life Books. Very Good+. 1980. Reprint. Hardcover. 0809435853 . Crook was the military hero of the Indian Wars of the west having subdued the Sioux and the Apache tribes and defeated their warrior Chieftans, Geronimo and Crazy Horse. Bourke, the author, was a professional soldier as well and spent most of his career with the Third Cavalry. This is a facsimilie reprint of the original 1891 edtion. Printed in two versions, this is the Deluxe Edition issued in real leather with gilt edges and an sewn in ribbon bookmark. The covers are brown leather with gilt spine and cover lettering (the Standard Edition has faux leather covers with white edges). This copy has the original Classics of the Old West bookplate affixed to the front end paper and the original information sheet about the book loosely laid in. No owner name has been inscribed on the bookplate or in the book. There are a few light scratches to the gilt edges, else this is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings.
