About This Item

New York: Harcourt Brace & World, 1982. First Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. This is a stated "First American Edition." The interior is clean and fresh, with no marks or signatures, and very few signs of previous use. The pink covers are bright, with just a bit of wear at tips and corners. The dust jacket is price-clipped and has a darkened spine but is otherwise in very good condition with light wear only. The attached scans should give a better idea of condition. The dust jacket is now in a protective mylar cover. A very nice copy. Synopsis: Pod, Homily and Arriety are kidnapped from their home in Little Fordham by Mr. and Mrs. Platter. They have a financially unsuccessful miniaure village, and plan to display the Borrower family to increase admissions and profits. "Imprisoned in the Platter's attic through the winter, the Borrowers' initial stunned despair give way to desperate planning ... Not until Arriety, poring avidly over old numbers of the "Illustrated London News, discovered the article on ballooning did there seem any hope. But then -- how the days flew until their plans were complete.

Synopsis

Imprisoned in an attic by a greedy couple who want to use them as performers, the Borrowers escape by balloon.
