Illinois 1990. Harriet Bosse was born in Kristiania (now Oslo) in 1878 of a German father and a Danish mother. In 1896 with the help of her brother-in-law and her sister, Harriet made her Norwegian debut as Juliet in Shakespeares Romeo and Juliet. Four years later in Stockholm August Strindberg saw her as Puck in A Midsummer Nights Dream and was captivated by her. Within a short time he uttered the famous question, Will you have a little child with me? Harriets curtsied response was, Yes, thank you.
