IV with engraved dedication to Queen Victoria, 384 hand-colored engraved figures on 96 plates by S. Watts after drawings by Mrs. Edward Bury, Miss E. Maund, Miss S. Maund, Edwin Dalton Smith and Mills. Contemporary green half calf over marbled boards; some light scuffing to spines, endpapers and engraved titles foxed and stained, plates clean and bright. First edition of the first four volumes, featuring delicate and finely hand-colored engravings with detailed notes on each flower's history and cultivation. The complete Botanic Garden eventually extended to 18 volumes including supplements. Printed at Maund's press at Bromsgrove, Worcestershire.PROVENANCE: A.C.
