Edinburgh: W. & A.K. Johnston, 1883. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Folio. First Edition. Two volumes, bound in original pictorial green cloth. Title stamped in black, with large gilt daisy device on front boards. All edges red. With decorative floral endpapers in green. Unpaginated. Frontispiece, in both volumes, [52] leaves of brightly coloured plates of flowers, and their fruit and seeds, accompanied with facing leaves of descriptions and classifications of each flower. Vol. I: Phanerogams, Vol. II: Cryptogams. Volume two contains [2] p.p. index of illustrations for comparative study. Wear to edges and spine ends. Slight bruising to corners. Some scuffing to boards. Circular smudge on volume one, with some lighter smudges and stains to both volumes. Some curling to plates. Light foxing throughout. Sporadic smudges to leaves. Ownership signature on f.f.e.p. Otherwise a very good, clean copy.
