Reliure en plein chagrin bordeaux, dos à cinq nerfs orné de fleurons dorés, double filet doré en encadrement des plats, fleurons dorés en écoinçons, contreplats et gardes de papier peigné, filet doré sur les coupes, roulette dorée sur les coiffes, tête dorée sur brochure, étui bordé de chagrin bordeaux, reliure de l'époque, probablement de l'éditeur. Très rare et bel exemplaire parfaitement établi en reliure du temps. [ENGLISH TRANSLATION FOLLOWS] First edition, one of 50 copies on vergé de Hollande, the only large paper copies (apart from 10 on China). Contemporary dark red shagreen, probably publisher's original, spine in six compartments with gilt fleurons, covers with double gilt fillet frame and gilt fleurons to corners, marbled endpapers and pastedowns, gilt fillet to edge of covers, gilt roulette to headpieces, top edge gilt, slipcase edged in dark red shagreen. A very rare and very good copy in a perfectly matched contemporary binding.
