New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1880. First edition. Hardcover. Fine. 8vo. xlv,(3),403,(1)pp followed by 4pp publisher's catalogue. Original green silk-finish cloth, blocked in black ad gilt on the spine and upper board. Dark green coated endpapers. Twelve illustrations by Alfred Kappes. The front free endpaper gutter is glued into the hinge, else this is a superb copy with only a trace of wear to the cloth.
Reportedly only 1500 copies of the Scribner edition were issued in 1880; but by 1889 it had gone through 16 printings with 12,900 copies. Lanier's version of Malory was reissued in 1917. llustrated by Wyeth,
