About This Item

Harper & Brothers Publishers, New York, 1957. First Edition. Hardcover (1/4Cloth 3/4 Boards). Good Condition/Fair. Illustrator: Tomi Ungerer. The text is illustrated with black and white drawings by Tomi Ungerer. 1/4 blue coloured cloth covered backstrip with silver titles. 3/4 cream coloured board with small silver embossed illustration to the front panel. Illustrated dustwrapper, again by Tomi Ungerer, with blue, purple and black coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. Black and white photograph of author to the rear dustwrapper panel. In this book the New York Herald Tribune columnist writes about important "stuff" – like how to get through the Louvre in 6 minutes, how best to ride away from the hounds, how he scaled the Empire State building and other treaties. Softening to the head and to the heel of the backstrip and bumping to the book corners. The backstrip is somewhat brown and faded, commensurate with the loss of dustwrapper. Staining, foxing and various rubbings to the book panels. Browning and foxing to the top textblock edge and age toning to the other edges and to the internal pages. The front fore text edge is deckled. Chipping to the dustwrapper corners and to the head and to the heel of the backstrip. Sunning to the backstrip and rubbing and age toning to the other dustwrapper panels. Some tears can be seen to the lower dustwrapper edge with associated creasing. Clipping of the top two fold over corners. First edition of the work in this format and binding, and/or set or series. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. (4), V-VIII, (2), 3-211, (5) pages.. Dust Jacket price-clipped. Please refer to accompanying picture (s). Illustrator: Tomi Ungerer. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilo. Category: Communications & Media; Journalism; Humour. Inventory No: 0113794. .
