About This Item
New York: Viking Press, 1972. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. This is a stated first edition, with a complete number line. The interior of the book is fresh. There is a small gift inscription to a former owner on the fixed front end paper, but no other marks and very few signs of use. The reinforced, illustrated binding is bright, with minor wear at edges and corners. The dust jacket is price-clipped, and unfortunately, is only in good condition, with edge wear, chipping, and a badly faded spine. The attached scan should give a better idea of condition. . Synopsis: When desperate measures could not stop an epidemic virus born of experimentation, humans evacuated Earth. Men died from the virus, but their animals thrived. Cats, in particular, gained heightened intelligence and increased manual dexterity. Gammage, exceptionally intelligent even among Cats, went to live in the ruins of a university to study human knowledge. When the Demons -- as men were called -- were preparing to return and reclaim the planet, it was Gammage and Furtig, a young warrior of Gammage's own family line, who were the Cat's best hope of survival.
