The Thirtieth Georgia Infantry served until the spring of 1863 in the department of South Carolina, Georgia and Florida; then went to Mississippi and became a part of the brigade of Col. C. C. Wilson. It served under him at Chickamauga, soon after which he was promoted to brigadier general. After his death in November, 1863, the Thirtieth was consolidated with the Georgia 29th Infantry Regiment and assigned to the brigade of General Stevens, of Walker's division. It served through the Atlanta, Tennessee and Carolina campaigns, surrendering with Johnston near Goldsboro. Organization of the Companies of the 30th Regiment Company A: Butts County men-Butts Invincibles. This company became Company I, upon reorganization in 1862. Company B: Butts County -Bailey Volunteers. This company became Company A, upon reorganization in 1862. Company C: Spalding and Butts County -Hunter Guards. This company became Company F, upon reorganization in 1862. Company D: Bibb County -Hugeney/Huguenin Rifles. Company E: Henry County -Bartow Invincibles. This company became Company B, upon reorganization in 1862. Company F: Campbell County -Campbell Sharpshooters. This company became Company C, upon reorganization in 1862. Company G: Campbell County -Campbell Grays. This company became Company H, upon reorganization in 1862. Company H: Fayette County -Fayette Volunteers. This company became Company G, upon reorganization in 1862. Company I: Clayton County -Clayton Invincibles. This company became Company E, upon reorganization in 1862. Company K: Campbell County -Chattahoochee Volunteers
