Illustrated with reproductions both in colour, and black-and-white of artworks and drawings by scientists, as well as photographs. Yellow coloured boards with white coloured titles to the back strip. Dark butter coloured end pages. Colour illustrated dustwrapper (wraparound) with black coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. With the aid of dead letters, diaries and journals, the author describes the work and characters of the pioneers of scientific enquiry in Australia in the early years. Rubbing of the book corners and back strip edges. Very light age toning of the text block edges and pages. A little creasing of the top dustwrapper edge with rubbing of the panels. Sunning to the back strip and to the left hand edge of the front panel. There is a blue coloured mark to the top right hand corner of the rear panel. Size: 4to 9¾" - 12" tall. 192 pages,.
