Original red cloth boards with gilt lettering front panel and spine, worn on points with some discoloration to spine cloth. Title page torn near gutter. Hinges repaired and rear pastedown had large tear that has been repaired. Captain Samuel A. Swiggett (1834-1904) served with the 36th Iowa Infantry; he describes his capture, prison life and escapes from Camp Ford in Tyler, Texas. Illustrated with photographs. ; MCN27680; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; 254 pp .
