Following the colossal battle against the Empire's warriors on the Burning Plains, Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have narrowly escaped with their lives. Still there is more at hand for the Rider and his dragon, as Eragon finds himself bound by a tangle of promises he may not be able to keep. First is Eragon's oath to his cousin Roran: to help rescue Roran's beloved, Katrina, from King Galbatorix's clutches. But Eragon owes his loyalty to others, too. The Varden are in desperate need of his talents and strength—as are the elves and dwarves. When unrest claims the rebels and danger strikes from every corner, Eragon must make choices— choices that take him across the Empire and beyond, choices that may lead to unimagined sacrifice. Eragon is the greatest hope to rid the land of tyranny. Can this once-simple farm boy unite the rebel forces and defeat the king? Source: Publisher.

Synopsis

Brisingr, or The Seven Promises of Eragon Shadeslayer and Saphira Bjartskular, is the third book in the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini. It was released in the United States and other English-speaking countries on September 20, 2008. Originally, the novel was intended to be the last in the Inheritance Cycle, but this changed when Paolini decided that the series was too complex to conclude in one book.

I HATED this boring and bloated book. Note to Christopher Paolini: You do not need to give every little event in a book its own chapter! Nobody cares about dwarf politics!

This series keeps getting better and better. The characters become more complex, and the plot has an unexpected turn every chapter or two. Roran by far is my favorite character has taken a lot onto his shoulders in this book, its great seeing him step up to make his own way and not be in his brothers shadow. The Varden really step it up too, its great reading about the internal working of the rebels. On top of that the bad guys are getting more evil, if that is possible. I really recommend this book. If you have not read this series I suggest starting it soon! I would compare it to a blend of star wars and lord of the rings.
