A collection complete in three volumes exploring the history of the vibrant city of Bristol, the first edition. The first edition of this work. Three volumes telling of the complete local history of Bristol, an intriguing and accurate history with many little known facts and picturesque descriptions. Tracing the origin and growth of Bristol as a leading and progressive, commercial city. Written by the hands of J. F. Nicholls and John Taylor, librarians.  Vol. I focusing on the civil history, vol. II on the ecclesiastical history, and vol. II on civil and modern history. with a general index. Illustrated with a frontispiece to each volume and numerous illustrations in text throughout. In the original publisher's full cloth binding with decorative gilt to the front board. Externally generally smart with minor shelf wear and a minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities, some minor chipping to the cloth. With minor damp markings to the front and rear boards of vol. II and III. Inscribed by a previous owner to the verso of the front free endpaper of vol. I, dated 1902. Internally, firmly bound, the front hinges only just starting, the frontispiece only slightly coming loose. The ages are bright and clean. Illustrated with a frontispiece to each volume and numerous illustrations in text throughout.  Very Good
