About This Item

London: B. T. Batsford, 1947. Cloth. Near Fine/Near Fine. 9" by 6". Not Stated. An early edition of this sweeping study of British architects and craftsmen between 1600 and 1830, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. The third revised edition of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. An interesting study of architectural taste, design and style from 1600 to 1830, with chapters on notable architects such as Inigo Jones and Sir Christopher Wren, the craftsmen who worked who carried out the designs, and popular styles such as Rococo and Regency. This third edition, revising the original work in the winter of 1946-7. Illustrated throughout with reproductions of photographs, prints and drawings. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is very smart; just a touch of fading to the spine, and a small bump to the upper extremity of the rear board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean except for the odd spot to the end papers. Dust wrapper is smart and bright, with only light chipping to the tail of the spine. Near Fine
