Spine title in gilt; small chip to corner at foot, several small chips to crown. Small stain to rear board, corners slightly rubbed. Hinge cracked at front. Illustrated colour frontis; 11 colour plates, some offsetting to guard page. Folded chart in pocket at rear, some folds slightly weakened. A bright copy; plates neat and clean. very good Discussion of the nesting sites, habits and eggs of British birds. The author notes that by addressing nests he is also providing a relatively complete list of species in the country as well. Beautifully illustrated; scarce in early edition. 1867
