Xvii, [2], 498 pp., xi, 296 pp. Folio, original green cloth with paper spine labels, soiling and buckling to cloth, a bit of spotting to portrait, prelims. loose, but on the whole a very good set. Bookplates of John Meade, nephew of Sir William Windham Dalling (Governor of Jamaica) who owned Earsham House, Bungay, Suffolk. Presentation inscription to Anne Louise Meade to titlepage of vol 1. An early and important description of Canada by Surveyor General Joseph Bouchette who travelled extensively throughout Upper and Lower Canada to produce the most accurate topographical work of the era. The city plans of Bytown, Guelph, Goderich and York are one of the earliest maps available for these cities. Gagnon 527; Lande 1594; Sabin 6848 & 6851.; TPL1627.
