Slight cracking to gutters of a few pages. Previous owner's inscription and stamped mark to front free endpaper and pastedown. Binding remains firm. Boards have mild edge wear with slight rubbing to surfaces. Soft crushing to spine ends. Light tanning to spine and edges.

Pages are moderately tanned and thumbed at the edges, with creased corners and foxing. Boards have been moderately rub worn. Noticeable shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are bumped and a little frayed Spine ends are crushed, with noticeable splits and chips. Tanning to spine and edges. Boards are bowed. Book has a forward lean. Water marks to boards and spine.

London: SPCK, 1912. From the collection of Sister Benedicta, Oxford. Gold embossed leatherbound hardcover, without dust jacket, in acceptable condition for its age. Boards are worn, and corners are bowed. Extensive wear to the spine, which has been taped. Spine ends are creased and spine is cocked. Ex Libris public library label to the front pastedown, and 'Ex Libris Convent of the Incarnation Fairacres, Oxford' label to FEP. Other labels on front paste down and FEP have been removed, leaving remnants. Page block is marked and discoloured, some of which has leached on to the pages. Tissue paper within is also worn with small tears. Hinge break at front cover, and gutter breaks at pages 97, 145, 193 and 353. Sixteen colour plates, pages and text are otherwise clean and bright throughout. LW. leather. Acceptable/No Dust Jacket. Used.

Firmly bound, original embossed blue-green cloth boards, no writing inside, a few minor marks on the front cover, some wear on the spine including a little chipping at the top and about an inch along the front and back edges with small tears across.
