About This Item
New York: Cupples & Leon, 1944. Buddy Books No. 16. Originally published 1940, this copy has a gift notation on the front free endpaper dated 1944, which is most likely the publication date of this copy. Dustjacket lists to #19 in the series. Red pictorial cloth printed in black, black and white frontis plate, color illustrated dustjacket. Almost no external wear, good hinges, tight text block, closed outer edges of text block a little soiled from handling or storage, pages very clean with the aforenoted gift notation, no other names or markings. The mylar protected dustjacket has some edgewear, shelf soil to the white background of the rear cover, some very minor corner chipping, very little paper loss. Book feels as if it was never read, was probably given as a gift by well-meaning Auntie Catherine and then ignored by the recipient and stored away in the attic.. Hard Cover. Good/Good. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
