Maps to end papers, 228 pp. Frontis + 50 other b/w illustrations on 32 pp of glossy plates all as called for. First Edition 1953. Very Good/ Good (Book- mild shelf rubbing to cloth at tail of spine- colour loss only, hint of dust spotting to top edge of book block,no previous owner name or insc. Dust Jacket rubbed to extremities with 1 x 1 cm chip to bottom front corner, associated tear to fore edge of flap fold of 1.5 cm and small nicks and a little loss to head and tail of spine which is also slightly sunned. Mild shelf soiling. Non price clipped - cover 16/- Now in a removable proprietary protective sleeve. No other notable defects to book or jacket). A book which has been reprinted a number of times but which is now quite uncommon in first edition format with it's dust jacket.
