Paris: Grasset, 1930. 1st . Half-Leather. Fine. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. First printing. Two volumes, pp. 368, 361, index, about 19cm X 13cm. Superbly custom-bound in half-leather, patterned boards, with gilt spine decorations and titles, top-edge gilt. Neat owner's name of diplomat's spouse "Athens, 1930". Laid in: news clipping obituary, in French, about 26 column inches. Also, a very attractive "Ex-libris, Andre Maurois" bookplate about 3" X 4.5", with tissue guard. A superb set with almost no sign of wear. We have matching bound volumes from the same period by Anatole France, de Maupassant and Rostand, as well as couple more Maurois (Ariel and Disraeli).
