Londini [i.e. London]: Ex Officina Jacobi Tonson, & Johannis Watts, 1716. [24], 424pp, [20]. With an engraved frontispiece and three engraved folding maps. Contemporary sprinkled calf, contrasting red morocco lettering-piece. Rubbed, chipping to head of spine, corners exposed. Near contemporary ownership inscription of 'Fitzwilliam', later armorial bookplate of Brocket Hall Library, and recent book-labels of Lord W. Kerr and Peter Scupham to FEP, very occasional light spotting. The first appearance of classical scholar and typographer Michael Maittaire's (1668-1747) edition of Caesar's De bello Gallico and De bello civili; with the addition of Aulus Hirtius' De bello Alexandrino, De bello Africano and De bello Hispaniensi.
