With additional Wilke illustrations at chapter heads, b&w photo reproductions and a route plan. With references. Gray cloth, two-color title cartouche printed on the cover, endpaper maps by Wilke. Signed by the author with fountain pen on blank preliminary recto, ballpoint gift inscription verso dated Nov. 1964. Boards clean and square, leaves crisp and bright, binding tight. In the two color illustrated dust jacket, unclipped: minimal toning to the head edge, spine ends and corners gently rubbed. "An informal narrative" first published in 1940, this revised edition in 1944.
