About This Item
New York: Meredith Press, 1969. First Edition, First Printing. Hardcover. Very good/good. 8vo. Cloth. Dust jacket. Illustrations throughout by Victoria Chess.
Shelf wear to jacket edges, including several chips and closed tears. Sunning to spine. Bookplate on front free endpaper.
This is an uncommon first edition book of ostensibly authentic magic recipes. According to the publisher's warning: "These recipes, culled from the ancient writings of black magic and alchemy, are presented for their historic value alone. Neither the author nor the publisher represent them as having safe or magical properties, and so would prefer not to be held responsible for any results obtained in their applications." With charming illustrations by Chess, the whole thing is presented in a rather tongue-in-cheek fasion. Truzzi was a noted paranormal and pseudoscience investigator, and this early book was unique among his otherwise academic writings.
