Novel that follows several families, mostly Jewish, in the aftermath of World War One in Germany, Russia and eastern Europe, during the Weimar era, focusing on the effects of the inflation of the German mark, and economic and political upheavals involving the Bolsheviks and the rise of Adolf Hitler. Translated from the Yiddish.
