Octavo (21cm); red cloth, with titles stamped in black on spine and front cover; dustjacket; [xiv],303pp. Small, faint damp mark to lower left corner of front cover, else Near Fine and clean throughout. Dustjacket designed by Ernst Reichl is unclipped (priced $2.50), with a hint of sunning to spine and some mild wear to extremities; Near Fine. Attractive copy of this collection of short stories set in Chicago, full of the same grim realism found in Farrell's Studs Lonigan trilogy. The stories first appeared in the pages of The American Mercury, The New Masses, Dynamo, Story, A Year Magazine, Pagany, Midland, and Best Short Stories of 1933, and are gathered here for the first time.
