Octavo; [xii, 153pp. 20 plates including frontis with tissue guard, all present. Medium gray boards with grayish cloth spine and paper title label with red and green lettering. Boards rubbed at corners and spine ends, with some soiling to cloth and smudging to title label and to back panel. Opens flatly between a few gatherings, but binding is secure. Pages unmarked.
Cole and Vail note: "First and only edition. Contains 52 addresses delivered in California, May 7-20, 1903, on TR's first visit to the west coast."
