New York : The Beechhurst Press, 1953. Book. Near Fine. Hardcover. Stated First Edition. Clean large format hardcover book illustrated with 75 photogravure plates, in original dust jacket. Size approx. 9" 12". Clean blue cloth boards with gold lettering on spine. No bumping, no fraying. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound. Pages are clean with clean endpapers - no names, writing or marks. 96 pages. Dust jacket has some shallow edge chipping, short closed edge tears; enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover. Colin Wyatt, former British ski-jumping champion, traversed on ski such widely dispersed territories asthe Atlas Mountains of North Africa, the Albanian Alps, the Canadian Rockies, the glacial volcanoes of New Zealand, and the Australian Snowy Mountains. He crossed Lapland to the North Cape, besides conquering the more familiar but no less formidable peaks of the Swiss and French Alps. From these expeditions he brought back this collection of photographs which for sheer grandeur and scenic variety may be unmatched. Add to this his lively reminiscences as an observant and imaginative traveller, capable with both pen and camera. The author's own sketch maps and pen sketches head each chapter. .
