About This Item
New Haven, CT: Yale University Press, 1910. Cloth. Very Good +. A very solid example of the 1910 true 1st edition, limited to 1,000 copies. Tight and VG+ in its wine-red cloth, with bright gilt-titling along the spine. A touch of very light spotting to the front panel, a bit of light soiling and offsetting --with one small (hair-crack) tear-- at the pastedowns. Still though, very presentable. Thick quarto, top-edge gilt. 39 maps (many of them fold-outs, a number of them tucked into the rear pastedown pocket) plus additional "sketches" and "plans". The definitive history of what many consider the Confederacy's single greatest victory of the War, a victory which would embolden Robert E. Lee to penetrate into Pennsylania, resulting in the showdown at Gettysburg.
