About This Item

Pioneer Press, 1980. Presumed first edition/first printing thus. Hardcover. Good. No dust jacket. Signed by author. Cover has some wear and soiling, with spine frayed at top and bottom.. 448 p. Illustration. Maps. Notes. Bibliography. Index. This is the story of the AMerican Revolution in New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, and especially Pennsylvania from July 1 to December 19, 1777. The words of actual participants are used effectively in this narrative. The letters, diaries and journals quoted in the text have been edited to remove extraneous material and for easier reading. The intent was to provide, through the use of eyewitness accounts, a more sensitive, dramatic, and interesting narrative that would be a superior experience that mere factual accounts by non-witnessing historians.
