An informative work on the military campaigns of Napoleon Bonaparte, printed on behalf of the U. S. Military Academy, with six folding maps to the rear of text. First and only edition. Illustrations include six folding maps that have been adhered to the rear pastedown.This is an informative work on the military campaigns of Napoleon Bonaparte from 1796-1797. At this point in time, Bonaparte began a military campaign against the Austrians and their Italian allies, which jump started the first of many victories as well as his reputation as a national hero.Written by Colonel Gustav Joseph Fiebeger (1858-1939), who was a professor of engineering at the U. S. Military Academy. This work was printed by the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York. With the occasional institutional stamp, including a blind stamp to the title page from the Spokane Public Library.Collated, complete. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Light bumping to the extremities as well as to the head and tail of spine, with some marks to the boards. Institutional label written on spine of work. A few marks to the front paste down. Front hinge is starting but remains firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout, with the odd handling mark. Title page has a few closed tears that have been repaired with tape to the recto of page. Institutional blind stamp to bottom of title page, with another stamp to the title page as well as the top of the first page of text. Pages 3 to 7 are detaching from the binding from the top of pages. Another stamp is found on page 55. Folding maps to rear of text are bright and clean, with a few tape repairs to closed tears, particularly to the map depicting Northern Italy, Switzerland, and Tyrol. Good
